GOLDTOOTH GELDENHOOF
Geldenhoof Gold Project, Blackwater Discovery Area, BC
StoneShield's Geldenhoof gold project lies four kilometres to the east and on strike from New Gold Inc.'s (NGD – TSX) Blackwater gold project in central British Columbia. The current resource at Blackwater is 6.6 million oz. of gold (5.4 mil. oz. indicated, 1.2 mil. oz. inferred) based on the company's most recent NI 43-101-compliant resource estimate reported in Q3, 2011. The discovery is a bulk-tonnage, open-pit mineable gold resource. New Gold recently continued to consolidate the district by announcing offers to acquire juniors, Silver Quest Resources Ltd. and Geo Minerals Ltd, proving the potential for Blackwater to become British Columbia’s newest gold mining district.
New extensions to the resource are on the far eastern side of Blackwater, trending toward Geldenhoof. Blackwater was discovered by geochemical sampling in an area of minimal outcrop exposure and thick glacial till cover. The mineralization is closely associated with geophysical anomalies, IP chargeability highs, resistivity highs and magnetic highs, due to intrusive rock sources of gold beneath the deposit and silicification/disseminated sulfides within the deposit.
Geldenhoof consists of 2,613 hectares with good road access from the town of Vanderhoof. Geophysical anomalies at Geldenhoof in the northern portion of the property indicate the presence of a strong magnetic high, similar in size to the geophysical anomalies at Blackwater.
During the 2011 field season geochemical sampling at Geldenhoof has outlined a series of zinc, copper, silver and gold anomalies in soils situated over the northern half of the tenure. These soil anomalies exhibit a northwesterly fabric, suggesting the potential for multiple feeder structures in the area. Zones of silicification and quartz-pyrite vein stockworks were observed at the southern margins of the soil grid. Follow-up work including geological mapping and rock sampling is required to determine the significance of these anomalies and trends.
The Company’s consultants have been engaged to further compile and review all relevant exploration data and to prepare a NI 43-101 compliant technical report. A recommendation for further work is expected in the anomalous areas, including more detailed geochemical sampling and a program of geophysical surveys.
